Lasting Power of Attorney

  • Our Services

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a legal document that allows you to formally appoint someone you trust to manage your affairs and made decisions on your behalf if you ever find yourself in a position where you are unable to do so.

There are two types of Lasting Powers of Attorney:

Financial Decisions Lasting Power of Attorney allows the person you appoint as your Attorney to manage your financial affairs, including for example paying your bills, managing your bank accounts and even selling property on your behalf.

Health and Care Lasting Power of Attorney allows your Attorney to make decisions around your health and care.

Recorded as the most common cause of death in 2015, the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia is only likely to increase as Britain’s population continues to age. We encourage our clients to prepare their Lasting Powers of Attorney as soon as possible because if you wait until you need it, then you would have waited too long. In which case your next of kin might have to make an application to the Court of Protection on your behalf for appointment of a Deputy, which could be a very lengthy and costly process.

If you are a small business owner, you need to think about how your business would operate if you suddenly found yourself unable to make decisions around your business. Preparing a Business Lasting Power of Attorney might just be what you need.

At Daniel Francis Solicitors, we offer our clients a comprehensive and sensitive service and will guide you through the process of preparing and registering your Lasting Power of Attorney with great care and attention.
